Vertical key from Norway   -   morsenøkkel

Nera Telegraph key.

I managed to find on the Internet only little information about this NERA Company.

Nera was the telecomunications company in the Scandinavian country, it's HQ is in Bergen and Oslo too.

Following a wrong policy, telecommunications has been left by political objectives, this generating a decline in telephone and telegraph transmission lines for this country.

Today the Nera Company is mainly engaged in communications via Satelite, active in Norway and in manyither  country in South East Asia.

For information about this production, I have give lot of my thanks to my friend Jan SM5LNE, a great collector who with his knowledge was able to reach an OM that has been employed in the Nera Company.

This Norwegian HAM confirms that the Nera key has been built and delivered in 1960, mainly used in the company and sold in the Naval circuit to ground and ships stations.

The base of my key had engraved on a little write that might appear to be the name of a US radio amateur, nothing more wrong.

Recognize an important communication from Thomas ON6NT, also collector, whose name is the name printed on the base "N2OPF" refers to the key model produced by Nera.

Thank you very much Thomas for the information.

The same key with the same base marked N2OPF is in the hands of  Peter DK7JC.

N. Jacobsens Elektrische Verksted

N. Jacobsen's electrical workshop was converted into a joint stock company in 1912 by moving to the town of Gøteborggaten in the following year 1913.

In 1925, the company started producing radios under the "Småen" brand. This production lasted for about 20 years.

The company also produced protection relays (1934), room thermostats (1947), large electric meters (1951) and disconnectors and insulators (1981).

In 1972, the company moved from Gøteborggata to the Prestaker industrial estate in the city of Hokksund.

In 1977 the company was taken over by Aktuell A / S and the name was changed to Jacobsen elektro, in 1987 the company has a new corporate change and was bought by Hokksund Invest AS.

The key shown below is produced by the Jacobsens company. It is the classic Swedish style long lever design. It differs for the particular rounded frame and for having six contact terminals or available (two on each side, plus the central fixing screws of the base base, you can see this well in the photo under the base.

The base is in backelised canvas created in plywood and then painted over in black, the hardware is chromed and the knob in hard wood.

Under the main lever it has a connection generated by a copper sheet, to maintain electrical contact with the rest of the components.

I don't know if it was made specifically for some particular transmission system or for some model of radio transceiver, this makes me think because the two contacts that hold the key solidly on the surface are a continuation of the electric contacts of the key.
