I primi modelli erano con base in mogano, questo è la seconda versione, con base in ebanite. Il coperchio è in ottone rivettato, nella parte interna ha dei fogli di mica per isolare l'operatore durante la trasmissione.

Il disegno del tasto Patt. 2426" era destinato al Ministero dell'Aeronautica Inglese RAF.

Ha il medesimo design dell' Air Ministry Type D 10F sotto esposto , prodotto successivamente a questo modello., con un set aggiuntivo di contatti sul fermo posteriore.

Tasto telegrafico costruito nel periodo del primo conflitto mondiale 1910 - 14 ca.

Costruito per la telegrafia senza fili con il sistema cosi detto a scintilla, l'hardware è in ottone massiccio, ci sono delle lastre di rame che provvedono alla distribuzione delle correnti, notevoli per il sistema in uso a quel tempo. Tutto il sistema poggia su una solida base in bachelite che ne permette l'isolamento.

la chiave è poco comune, presenta un involucro di protezione completamente in metallo, isolato dal resto del tasto.

La funzione del coperchio era quella di proteggere l'operatore dalle scintille che si potevano sprigionare durante la trasmissione telegrafica. Dentro al coperchio, giusto in corrispondenza del punto di contatto è stata inserita una lamina isolante di triacetato di cellulosa per evitare che le scintille potevano scaricare sulla massa del coperchio ed indirettamente colpire l'operatore.

La tecnologia all'epoca era agli albori e le trasmissioni avvenivano mediante l'utilizzo di trasmettitori a spinteromentro, comunemente detti a scintilla. Le correnti in gioco per emettere l'onda modulata erano molto alte, nell'ordine di 10.000 ~ 14.000 volts.

Anche se l'operatore era ben consapevole dei rischi del sistema, la Royal Air Force nella sua commessa, ha previsto un involucro protettivo per evitare fortuiti schock agli operatori. Un utile esempio di prevenzione. 

La chiave è molto grande e pesante, misura 250mm di lunghezza e 100mm di larghezza per 76mm di altezza con un peso di poco superiore a 2kg. Nelle foto sottostanti ho affiancato un noto tasto Inglese, il WT8AMP per dare l'idea del suo notevole ingombro.

Key built for wireless telegraphy, so-called spark system. The hardware is made in solid brass, there are copper plates that provide for the distribution of currents, the base is in solid bakelite that allows its isolation.

This kind of key don't is t very common, it has a completely metal protective casing, isolated from the rest of the key.

The function of the cover was to protect the operator from sparks that could be emitted during the telegraphic transmission.

Inside the cover, just at the point of contact, there is cellulose triacetate insulating lamina was inserted to prevent sparks from leaking onto the mass of the metal cover, so indirectly may be striking the operator.

The technology at the time was very primitive and the transmissions were made by using spinteromenter transmitters, commonly called sparking system. The currents in play to emit the modulated wave were very high, in the order of 10,000 ~ 14,000 volts. aprox.

Even if the operator was well aware of the risks of this system, the Royal Air Force in his contract has provided a protective casing to avoid fortuitous schock operators. A very important example of prevention .

The key is very large and heavy, measuring 250mm in length and 100mm in width by 76mm in height with a weight just over 2kg. In the photos below I've joined a well-known English key, the WT8AMP beside the massive A.M. 10F/310 key to give the idea of its considerable size.

Marconi PS 5785A  - R.A.F. key type 10F/94

Questa piccola e rara chiave apparteneva alla Reale Aeronautica militare Inglese, contraddistinta dal numero di commessa AM 10F/94.

La chiave dalla Marconi Ltd. con identificativo di produzione  PS 5785A .

Utilizzato dalla RAF sin dal 1930. La lunghezza totale della chiave, braccio compreso, è di 140 mm di lunghezza per 42 mm di larghezza. Sulla sua base vi è stampato l'ID di fabbrica " PS 5785A ", esistono anche alcune versioni con l'etichetta" PS 4707E ".

La chiave è molto leggera per via delle ridotte dimensioni, costruita con una base ed un pomello in bakelite e l'hardware in lega di alluminio.

This small and rare key belonged to the Royal English Air Force, distinguished by the number of contractor AM 10F / 94.The key was made by Marconi Ltd.  with production number of PS 5785A.  Used by the RAF since 1930. The total length of the key, including the arm, is 140 mm in length and 42 mm in width. On its base there is printed the factory ID "PS 5785A", there are also some versions with the label "PS 4707E".

The key is very light due to its small size, built with a base and a bakelite knob and aluminum alloy hardware.
